K9SLQ passed March 7th Report from N9EGT

Wayne, K9SLQ EN70 checked in many times to our 205 morning activity group. He would often check in with his good friend Wayne, N9EGT. He had a booming signal from Bluffton, IN some 380 miles from me. On those busy mornings Wayne would check in with his CW signal. My last QSO was  2-24-2020 on FT8. I will miss Wayne.. Stan KA1ZE

BTW, Wayne and Wayne also enjoyed a sampling of a little taste of ice cream…..Stan, Wayne had just been in the hospital for intestinal blockage and then pneumonia. He had just come home the day before and we had talked on the phone that morning. His wife Susan says he just collapsed and then was taken to the hospital. He might’ve died on the way to the hospital. In the last year or two he struggled with various kinds of weakness.

Wayne, K9SLQ, was a superior Ham operator since his teenage days. He excelled in many operating modes including Teletype and EME. I knew him as a HF and VHF operator. We had many great times together on the 2 and 6 meter airways! He had a great station on 630 meters since the band opened. I was a best friend and deeply miss Wayne. He had strong faith in Christ and we shared testimony through ministry together. See his QRZ site.
